Dive with SMART-TEC
SMART-TEC, a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort and TEC centre, is the dive centre at the sister resort Mabul Water Bungalows, reached by a free electric buggy with a driver. It combines diving at Sipadan with the macro life of Mabul. Diving at Sipadan requires Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent. Sipadan Island is about 20 minutes by boat from the resort. Confirm Sipadan availability, eligibility and charges separately; do not assume a visit is included in accommodation or diving arrangements.
Look a little closer
The house reef lies right in front of the resort. Mandarin fish, frogfish, pipefish, gobies, shrimp, crab and lobster are among the species seen there. Ask the dive centre about house-reef and night diving arrangements for your stay.
PADI and technical diving courses
The dive centre offers PADI courses, TDI technical diving courses, nitrox and introductory dives. Tell the team your certification level and the course you have in mind.

Time above the water
When you are not diving or snorkelling, there is plenty to do on the island:
- Relax at the seawater swimming pool and the two shared open-air jacuzzis at Mabul Water Bungalows
- Rent a sea kayak
- Play beach volleyball
- Book a spa or massage treatment at the Ka’andaman Spa, at Mabul Water Bungalows
- Take an underwater photography course
- Visit the local traditional village
- Take a sunset walk
